03.10.171616
Quite often, looking at the webpage of a new school abroad, I find that the school belongs to international network Round Square. It is always shown as a distinguish feacher
I tried to understand this concept in more details.
What is Round Square?
Round Square is a network of 150 innovative schools in 40 countries on five continents. This comcept is based on experimental approach that helps to prepare a nation of developed, conscious, responsible, principled and confident global citizens.
Schools that belong to Round Square organization have the advantage of a mutual support network that shares its resources, ideas, methods, experience, opportunities at local, regional and international levels.
Round Square concept was founded in 1966 and was based on the teaching of the famous German philosopher Kurt Hanh. Kurt Hanh founded two famous secondary schools: Salem in Germany and Gordonstoun in Scotland. Both schools were established for preparing high school students to adulthood through special principles laid down in his teaching.
Students and teachers of Round Square schools believe that the approach to secondary education should be based on the six ideas.
Internationalism
Students see themselves as citizens of the world that do not play a role belonging to a particular gender, class, race, nationality and culture. It helps them to understand better the essence of any individual.
Democracy
Encouraged freedom of thought and speech. Students attend international forums and debates.
Environment
Students learn to find the necessary balance for a healthy relationship of humanity and the planet.
Adventure
The school proposes activities that allow students to develop the thirst to adventure to help them to understand that they are capable of more than one ever dreamed.
Leadership
Students learn to understand that a true leader is one who serves others and whose life values based on kindness, responsibility and fairness.
Service
Students travel to places of the world where their help is particularly needed and on their own experience learn how you can change the world for the better through helping others.
