During each consultation, I am asked the same question: which is the best age to start school abroad. In this article I give "pros" and "cons" for every age.

ENTERING THE SCHOOL ABROAD AT THE AGE OF 17, AFTER GRADUATING FROM SCHOOL AT HOME

Pros:

- parents don't need to worry that you might fail to graduate from high school;

- you are more mature and prepared for independent life.

Cons:

- all the classmates go to University and you have to go back to school;

- to finish school abroad, you need to study at least 2 years and it is a waste of time;

- you don't want to leave your friends. By 17 years you got the strongest connections with friends and when you move to another country they are likely to be lost.

ENTERING THE SCHOOL ABROAD AT THE AT AGE 16, AFTER 10TH GRADE

Pros:

- you are old enough to stay abroad independently.

- uou can I apply for 2-year completion program of the school and not lose a year.

Cons:

- it is difficult to do, because there is no time for acclimatization, schools want a high level of language and great results.

ENTERING THE SCHOOL ABROAD AT THE AGE OF 15, AFTER YOU COMPLETE SECONDARY EDUCATION

Pros:

- you have time to improve language and to repeat some subjects at your new school abroad before getting into the last 2-year of high school program;

- you can do 2 years of graduating from secondary school, have time to improve language and your previous results.

Cons:

- if you take 2-year program to graduate from secondary school - still loose year;

- if you don't have sufficient knowledge of the language there would be a gap in core subjects and not very good results at the end of secondary school which are also taken into account for admission to the University.

ENTERING THE SCHOOL ABROAD AT THE AGE OF 14, BEFORE RECEIVING SECONDARY EDUCATION

Pros:

- the optimal age to start living without parents and make new friends;

- there is time to improve the language and academic knowledge for transition to the main stage of graduation from secondary school.

Cons:

- I do not see

ENTERING THE SCHOOL ABROAD AT THE AGE OF 7-13 YEARS

Pros:

- at this age language learns easily and you would speak a foreign language as a mother tongue;

- very easy to adapt;

- younger children get more attention at school abroad;

- you become independent earlier and learn to make decisions for yourself;

- school motivats to study and you will get better results at graduationfrom high school.

Cons:

- the child parted with the family at very early stage. The family doesn't receive enough communication with the child in such an interesting age.

My conclusion. The best age for starting good school abroad is 12-14 years.
