One of the best IB schools located near London!

After meeting with ASC Cobham school representative Anastasia at a secondary education conference in Frankfurt, I was so impressed with how well she described the school that I decided I have definitely to visit it. Moreover, the road from the London center, where I often stay for conferences, to the school, takes no more than an hour.

Having visited ACS Cobham, I was so delighted with the campus infrastructure! The campus surpasses all schools that I have seen so far.

I decided to list what exactly impressed me so:

1. TERRITORY OF ACS SCHOOL.

A huge area of ​​120 acres. It's hard to imagine what 120 acres is, but the area of ​​this school is 5-6 times larger than in most British boarding schools. At the same time, I did not go around the entire school campus, I only visited the main inspection sites and, at the same time, did not see the boundaries of the campus. So, the campus of the school is a huge playing field, an Olympic-sized football field with professional running tracks in a circle, school buildings, and student dormitories, immersed in thoughtful landscape design.

2. CLOSENESS TO LONDON.

From London Waterloo Central Station I took the train to Isher in 25 minutes, spending £ 4 - trains run twice an hour. I took a taxi from the station to school and in 5 minutes and £10,
After passing the charming town of Isher, I was comfortably taken to the school entrance. The taxi driver said that he often brings children and parents, the taxi fare to Heathrow is 40 pounds, to Gatwick - 50 pounds. Every day, dozens of school buses transport daytime students to many parts of central London and the suburbs. At the same time, international students also know that their parents can get to school quickly enough.

3. ACS SCHOOL'S STUDENT RESIDENCE

There is no doubt that every pound earned goes back to improving the school. The stunning school residence accommodates 110 people, while the two-story apartments allow each student to have a kind of separate room while having a roommate who lives on a different level. All rooms with a spacious shower.

At the same time, a new residence is being built, in the design of which the wishes of all students were taken into account. Each student received a project of a new hostel with a description of how it will differ from the existing one. And everyone could say what he would add.

4. TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT.

The huge school theater can seat 500 people, while the front rows can be easily removed and the stage is expanded by another level. The equipment of the school theater would be the envy of many London theaters: light, sound, automatic supply of scenery. A third of the school is involved in the annual theatrical production, children control the lights, decorations, play in the orchestra and perform on stage. The school's separate conference room is used for international competitions with other schools by broadcasting live video and audio online.

5. ACS SCHOOL'S SWIMMING POOL.

The pool deserves a separate description. All children staying at the boarding house are allowed to swim or relax in the pool at any time when they are free from classes. The modern glass walls of the pool allow students to admire the school park while relaxing.

6. PROGRAMS AND RESULTS OF THE ACS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL.

Since the school was created to meet the needs of diplomatic families who came to work in London, the school offers the IB and American High School Diploma programs. Considering that a family move to London may be in the middle of the school year, the programs are designed so that each child receives a separate schedule to learn what he needs to quickly and painlessly integrate into the educational process in England and, upon return, in his home country.

At the same time, the curriculum is structured in such a way as to fulfill the requirements of the taught programs. About 100 people graduate from school every year, with an average IB score of 35, many reaching a score of 40, and getting places in the best universities in the world. For talented children, there is a Highly Able Learning program - if the school sees that the student is talented and tries, then he will be provided with any support so that he achieves the maximum possible result.

7. UNIVERSITY ADMISSION ASSISTANCE SERVICE.

The school has three full-time university admissions consultants. A consultant is assigned to each student and his help can be used as much as necessary. The school arranges preliminary testing of high-performing students by the best universities in the world right at school. On the previous week of my visit, the school conducted preliminary testing of several students by the University of Cambridge.

8. NATIONAL MIX OF STUDENTS.

Despite the fact that the school is international, more than half of the school's students are British. They are followed by Americans and Canadians. Children from all over the world study at the school, while there are almost no students from Asia and Russia.
