Summer at Alexanders College

The opinion of a student about Alexanders College.
As I wrote earlier, our students all love the short English programs at Alexanders College.
Our constant student Vika shares her impressions of the program. Vika attends various language camps every year. Vika went to Alexanders 2 years ago, when she was 14 years old. After that, she was in an international language camp in Toronto, as well as an A-level preparation program in England. All schools were carefully selected for her English and further academic studies, but she always remembered Alexanders with regret, since in no other school she was so fun and interesting.
L: Vika. Tell me what program you were on and if you crossed paths with academic students during your vacation program.
V: I was in Alexanders in June, arrived in the first days for four weeks. This was the first session and there were very few vacation students in the first weeks, at the beginning about twenty. But at this time there were a lot of academic students at the school who studied the GCSE program there or were trained in English for admission to private schools. We did not study with academic students and we had our own program, as they were taking exams at that time.
L: What was your program and how much has your English improved?
V: I had an English plus horse riding program. But upon arrival, I changed the program to diversify my vacation. In the first week, I chose English plus sports (various games and competitions), the second week - horse riding, the third week - dancing and the fourth week - music. I studied on an intensive program: four English lessons a day, five times a week.
On Saturdays, there were exciting excursions: to London, Oxford, Cambridge. I have been to many camps, but Alexanders provided the most exciting sightseeing tour of London. On Sundays, there were absolutely free days. On the shore of the lake, near the school, there is an excellent restaurant where you can spend time. I also spent my evenings with foreign friends. It was a lot of fun: we played different games that were provided by the school in every home in the living rooms.
The girls were assigned by age to different houses. There were two educators in each house who constantly helped us, talked a lot in English, and supported us in different situations. My room had one bunk bed, but there were rooms with 4 girls. The room had a sink, enough space for things, and a table to do homework.
Alexander’s College is a great school for improving your English. In addition to the lessons, there are enough opportunities to avoid communication with monolingual children. There are a lot of foreigners, while Russians were about 10%. After summer school, my English immediately jumped one level.
L: Would you choose Alexandrs College for your academic programs?
V: I would be very happy to study at Alexanders on an academic program.
I talked a lot with teachers who teach various subjects at school throughout the year. I really enjoyed communicating with the school staff: for the first time, the teachers became real friends. They supported and helped me develop my English. In addition, all the teachers and educators were only a few years older than us. Therefore, it was very easy to find a common language with them. I really liked this school, and I would have stayed there to study if at that time the school offered a full program for graduation, including A-level.
